A note on Gmail.

This solution is based on using Gmail as your synchronization hub. Gmail gives you a free IMAP server which can synchronize with as many computers as you like.

You only need to use Gmail address if you want to access your computer from a computer that's not your own. You keep the same email addresses, use the same interface and pretty much use your email the same way you always have

You can use your current email software program (email client) on your own computers but if you want to access your email from another computer you will need to use Gmail.

Please note that your company may have a policy on email use that does not allow the use of webmail.
