Whether or not you have set up the Advanced solution, using coloured labels to help distinguish emails from each other is very useful.
For example I could have
- my work email address which I use on Outlook at the office e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
- a personal address I set up ages ago e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
- my gmail address which I set up for the Easy-Email solution to use as a synchronization hub
- and one for the sports club I'm a member of e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Note: Gmail is a free webmail email address that allows you to use several addresses. You don't need to switch address to Gmail, you just need to use the gmail account.
Gmail account: Setting up coloured folders
You setup email "folders" by labelling your emails. In Gmail they use labels, the equivalent of folders in other email clients.
Now you can choose a colour for each folder or for each type of folder e.g. personal, work, club etc.
Click on the square bullet to the left of the folder name in the list on the left hand side of the screen.
Click on the colour you want to apply to that folder.
As you'll see below in this example, "this is good" is purple and so is "choir" because these are both personal. The pink label is friends. Work labels are green and learning & development is brown.

Note: Multiple inboxes is our preferred option but setting up coloured labels for multiple email addresses is so simple you can do both!
